A bit about the Green Meadows Pasture Chickens:
Chickens are put out to pasture after spending a couple of weeks in a mobile brooder house, they are given access to outdoors in week 2 where they get used to their mobile pens and the green grass they will live in till their seventh week. They are given feed which contains no animal products, no steroids or growth promoters or antibiotics. The chlorophyll in the grass is a natural detoxifying agent and combined with lots of sunlight keeps the chickens healthy. Chickens are also fed a supplement of Non-GMO grain over and above the bugs the find naturally in their daily pasture. The fact that they are moved onto fresh grass daily and twice daily as they get older means that they are not exposed to their own faeces and the faecal dust. (Which is present in industrial poultry houses where most chickens we find in the shops are raised. This makes them very sick and is the reason why they are given antibiotics in their feed.)
Green Meadows Pasture chickens are given all of their inoculations on day one and they are given a booster Gumbaro disease and Newcastle disease in week 3 and 5. We add brewer’s yeast to their feed to help prevent leg problems common in broiler chickens and they have vitamins added to their water during times of stress such as when it is really hot or cold or when they are introduced to the outdoors.
They are slaughtered in a proper government inspected poultry Abattoir and are not injected with brine or cooled in water. They are cooled in a cold room and transported in refrigerated trailers.
